We previously found success with the Herd About Buffalo public art campaign in 2000 where we auctioned off artist-designed buffalo statues to raise funding for Roswell Park and the Burchfield Penney. We intentionally made all of the Herd of Hope buffaloes the same color to represent the business community coming together as one “herd.” The blue color reflects the blue used in Roswell Park’s logo.
Once we have received your sponsorship payment or commitment, our staff will reach out to the employee you designate to coordinate delivery of the statue at no additional charge. The statue is yours to keep!
The statue weighs approximately 65 lbs. They are 46″ long 32″ high 12″ wide.
The statue is made of aluminum. We picked aluminum as opposed to fiberglass for its durability, as we hope most sponsors will choose to display their Buffalo outdoors. The statues were painted with a special aluminum primer and the highest quality automotive finish that is available. We do not expect they will need any maintenance other than an occasional wash to remove dirt.
For our inaugural year, our plan is to continue to sell sponsorships through early fall. We will have a blue buffalo for each sponsor who joins the herd during that timeframe!
You can sponsor as many buffaloes as you’d like at $5,000 apiece.
Yes, individuals may sponsor a buffalo.
We only have the one size available for sponsorship at this time.
Dollars will be used to advance the most promising cancer research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
